HAVANA TIMES — A government sponsored festival of knowledge begins today in the 600 Youth Computer and Electronics Clubs that currently exist on the island to provide citizens with greater access to computing and communications technologies.

Those who are interested in participating can copy the downloadable version of the Cuban Collaborative Encyclopedia (EcuRed), which is “a monthly option that these centers provide in order to meet the low connectivity capacity of the Caribbean nation,” read a statement released by the Prensa Latina news agency.

The festival will conclude tomorrow with lectures on Internet tools as well as how to more easily find readings online and download books, music and antivirus programs.

The festival coincides with the dissident-sponsored “Festival Clic,” which is also on online technology and also takes place through Saturday.
