Cuban Forum on Peoples of African Decent Begins

HAVANA TIMES, Jan 4 — Today, academics, researchers and artists from three continents will begin the 16th Scientific Workshop on African American Social and Cultural Anthropology, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

The event will be based in Havana at the Casa de Africa center and museum until January 7, where participants will reflect on topics that will include culture, identity, African diaspora, resistance, oral traditions, visual anthropology and religion.

With representatives from Spain, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Equatorial Guinea, Portugal and Cuba, the forum will deepen the understanding of African heritage and will continue actions realized on the island last year dedicated to peoples of African descent worldwide.
