Cuban Singer Carlos Varela to Perform in Quito and New York

HAVANA TIMES — The singer-songwriter Carlos Varela will pay tribute to Ecuadoran painter Oswaldo Guayasamin later this month in Quito and will then travel to New York to perform two concerts at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

According to Cubarte, Varela will be play for the first time on the November 27 before the Ecuadorian public in the Rumiñahui auditorium, which will host the third edition of the “Todas las voces todas (All Voices) Festival. Varela’s compatriot Pablo Milanes performed at that same event last year.

The author of “Los hijos de Guillermo Tell” (The Children of William Tell) will later perform with his band at the Red Hot + Cuba Festival, along with Kelvis Ochoa, David Torrens and trumpeter Alexander Abreu to celebrate Global HIV/AIDS Response.
