Cuban Swimmer Hanser Garcia Wins Grand Prix of Barcelona

HAVANA TIMES — Cuban swimmer Hanser García, finalist in the London Olympics in the 100 meter freestyle, won a gold medal on Tuesday at the Barcelona Grand Prix, part of the Mare Nostrum European ciruit.

According to Cubadebate, Garcia won the competition with a 49.14 second time ahead of Russian Evgeni Lagunov (49.40) and the Japanese swimmer Sinri Shioura (49.47).

While several of the top global stars in the category were not competing, the result was a good sign for Garica in preparation for the World Championship to take place also in Barcelona on July 19 to August 4.
