Cuba’s Cayo Coco Airport Reopens
Recovery from damage caused by hurricane Irma.
HAVANA TIMES – For those tourists planning to visit Cuba’s famed Cayo Coco’s resorts this fall/winter high season, there is some good news just out from Prensa Latina. The Jardines del Rey international airport has resumed operations after repairs were made in the wake of Hurricane Irma, which passed through the northern coast of Cuba in early September,
Located on Cayo Coco, on the northern coast of the central Cuban province of Ciego de Avila, Irma’s strong winds caused the terminal to lose part of its roof and destroyed metal and woodwork, among other damage.
In the 2016-2017 high season the airport of Cayo Coco received up to 60 flights per week.
In the tourist resort area of Jardines del Rey the Piedraplén (road on the sea) Turiguanó-Cayo Coco, which joins the recreational center with land, was also damaged but was quickly restored.
Work continues on Cayo Coco to ready the hotels for the upcoming tourist season that will take place in Cuba from November to April 2018, noted Prensa Latina.

That won’t be possible until flights to Cayo Coco resume in November.
Great news, also great fishing off Cayo Coco, blue and white marlin.
I would love to hear from someone just getting back from Cayo Coco.
I’d love to hear from someone who has just returned from Cayo Coca !
