HAVANA TIMES, Dec 1 — With the screening of the feature film Un cuento chino, by Argentine filmmaker Sebastian Borensztein, the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema will officially open tonight at the capital city’s Karl Marx Theater.
In this 33rd edition of the event, twenty-one works of fiction from eight countries of the continent will be competing for the coveted Coral Award. Cuba will be competing with two films from 2010 (Chamaco and Marina), and two others that were released this year (Fabula and Juan de los Muertos).
The exhibitions of the works in the competition and those placed in parallel sections started Thursday morning in various theaters included in the festival circuit. The festival runs through December 11th.
