De-facto Pres. to Respect Cuban Doctors

HAVANA TIMES, July 1 – The members of the Cuban medical brigade in Honduras and the other collaborators from the island “will receive, as they have received, the best treatment,” said Roberto Micheletti, “president” of the government that overthrew last Sunday the constitutional President Manuel Zelaya, reported IPS.

Nearly five hundred Cuban doctors provide healthcare to the poorest sectors of Honduran society, and several hundred Hondurans are studying medicine on scholarships at the Havana-based Latin American School of Medical Sciences.

While joining the international outcry for the return of Manuel Zelaya to the Honduran presidency, Cuba has been monitoring the safety of its physicians providing service in the Central American nation.
