Film Una Noche to Be Shown at the Havana Film Festival
HAVANA TIMES — The film Una Noche (One Night), co-produced between Cuba, Britain and the United States, will be shown during the 34th International Havana Film Festival, being held from December 4 to 14, reported the Café Fuerte website.
The movie by British filmmaker Lucy Mulloy is not part of the official selection for the Coral award, but was included in the event’s “Hecho en Cuba” (Made in Cuba) program.
Filmed between in Havana 2007 and 2011, Una Noche recounts the ups and downs in the lives of three young Cubans who leave Cuba on a raft seeking the dream of a better life in the United States.
The film gained international attention last April when its three leading actors (Javier Nunez, Anailin de la Rua de la Torre and Daniel Arrechada), asked for “political asylum” in the US during their trip to the 11th Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
The film emerged as the top winner at the prestigious festival, picking up the awards for Best Direction and Best Photography, as well as the prize for Best Male Actor.
Last week the film won the Special Jury Prize at the 43rd International Film Festival of India, held in the coastal state of Goa.
