Lula Pleased with Prisoner Release
HAVANA TIMES, July 15 – Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed his satisfaction over the announcement of the release of 52 Cuban political prisoners, in statements during a press conference in Brasilia at the end of the fourth Brazil-European Union Summit, reported IPS. “Let’s hope that all countries release all the prisoners who are considered political,” affirmed the president.
Lula has also requested US President Barack Obama to drop the half century economic blockade that 11 US administrations have maintained against Cuba. He has said such a move would go a long ways to improving US-Latin American relations.
