Opposition Activist Leaving Cuba to Live in the USA as a Political Refugee

HAVANA TIMES — Cuban doctor and human rights activist Darsi Ferrer will leave Cuba on 28 June to live in the USA through that country’s “political refugee program” reported the Cubaencuentro website.

“I was left without work in an arbitrary and completely unjustified manner, and in that state I cannot practice as a doctor,” said Ferrer to Miami’s martinoticias.com website.

Since 2006 the Cuban government has prevented the doctor from practicing medicine, reported the website.

The opposition activist will settle in the city of Chattanooga (Tennessee), where his wife and son have resided since April through the same program, according to a message posted by one blogger.
