Second Cut Survivors in the HT Cuba Photo Contest

HAVANA TIMES – The jury of the 8th Havana Times Cuba Photo Contest is now busy making their third round selections.  In all 182 readers took part in the contest submitting a total of 1,503 photographs in the six different categories. After the second cut, 137 pictures and 14 stories remain in the competition.

After the first cut, 118 of the participants had at least one picture in the second round.  Now, after the second cut, 76 participants have at least one photo going into round three to determine the finalists.

Best of luck to all who are still competing and most of all thanks for sharing your pictures with other HT readers.

There will be a total of four rounds of selection and we hope to post the third round survivors (the finalists) by next Thursday, Nov. 3.

In the categories of Families, Machismo, Children, Cuban Inventions and Landscapes the photos are all individual as in previous years.

The difference this year is in the Stories category, where the participants sent in from 3 to 10 pictures to tell their story.  Those remaining in competition can be identified by the following numbers:  25-34,  124-128, 152-159,  202-205,  234-243,  255-261,  315-323,  401-409,  508-517,  568-573,  704-713,  968-977,  1344-1350,  1375-1384.

  • Dear Peter, the pictures are by category and there have been lots of musicians in other years of the contest. Have a look at the past years at the bottom of this post. Click on the different years. http://www.havanatimes.org/?p=115988

    As to the calendar idea, that’s a good thought for the future.
