Silvio Rodriguez to Perform in Costa Rica
HAVANA TIMES — Cuban troubadour Silvio Rodriguez will give a concert this coming April 12 at the Ricardo Saprissa Stadium in Costa Rica following a 23 year absence from the stages of that country, reported the La Nacion newspaper.
According to statements on Monday from the organizing agencies Ariel Rivas Entertainment and Evenpro, the Cuban composer will arrive in San Jose with eight backup musicians.
Referring to Rodriguez, the general director of Evenpro, Andres Guanipa, commented: “We’re concerned more about the music than the aesthetics,” which is why “this is a concert where people will come to listen rather than see, and Silvio always generates an intimate atmosphere.”
According to the producer, the founder of the Nueva Trova movement has many followers in Costa Rica, “and for many years we were hoping to organize this show,” he said.
