Tropical Storm Don Moves Far from Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, July 28 — Tropical Strom Don moves farther northwest of Cuba as its makes it way into the Gulf of Mexico and headed for Texas, notes forecasters on Thursday morning.

Don, which the National Hurricane Center is not yet predicting will reach hurricane strength, was located at 6:00 a.m. EDT at 1017 kilometers southeast of Corpus Christi and 924 kms. from Brownsville in the same state, notes the Cuban Weather Service (INSMET).

The system is expected to reach the US Gulf Coast in Texas sometime Saturday.  The tropical storm did not present any danger to Cuba.

TS Don currently packs winds of 65 kph (40 mph) and is moving northwest at a speed of 17 kph (11 mph).
