UK Hails Cuban Immigration Reform
HAVANA TIMES — The British government applauded the reform of Cuban immigration policy announced on Wednesday by the Cuban government, considering it a “positive step” toward “freedom of movement by Cubans,” reported the EFE news service.
“Although there’s still some way to ensure full respect for human rights in Cuba, these reforms will support family life by facilitating visits to relatives abroad,” said a Foreign Office spokesman in a statement.
The new immigration law “also complements broader economic changes being implemented by President Raul Castro,” said the representative of British diplomacy.
