USA Baseball Execs Visiting Cuba

HAVANA TIMES — The president of USA Baseball, Mike Gaski, along with executive director Paul Seiler, arrived in Havana for the resumption today of the traditional Cuba-US baseball series, which had been canceled since 1996.

“Since 2001 we did everything so that our teams could meet again, like they had done for years. In addition, we think that next year, in July, you’ll be able to return the visit,” said Gaski, speaking to the official website of the Cuban Baseball Federation.

The teams agreed to a series of five friendly matches to be played at Havana’s Latin American Stadium starting today Thursday (July 5) until Monday (July 9).

Cuba and the USA Baseball initiated this type of series in the mid 80’s, which lasted until 1996, when the then head of that US baseball organization decided to cancel them.
