Opening day of the 2012 Cuba International Book Fair.

HAVANA TIMES, Feb 12 — Hundreds of thousands of Cubans and foreign visitors are attending the annual Cuba International Book Fair that takes place first in the capital city (Feb. 9-19) and then throughout the provinces into the first week of March.

A demonstration of Cubans passion for reading, the event draws more people of all ages than any other occurrence on the island’s cultural calendar.

Each year the fair features literature from a different country or region of the world and this 21st edition highlights authors from the Caribbean. Here we bring you some snap shots of the first day of the fair.
