Cuba Chess Grand Master Arrives In Beijing
HAVANA TIMES, Dec. 8 — The Cuban chess Grand Master Leinier Dominguez arrived in China’s capital to participate in the Second World Mind Sports Games, which start tomorrow, reported Prensa Latina news agency.
This week’s battle follows a successful performance by Dominguez in Spain, where he accumulated five points in six games to finish as the top player for his team, Sestao Naturgas, in the National Club Championship.
The young chess player hopes to win a good position in the Chinese tournament, which he described as “very tough.” The competition consists of semi-rapid and fast paced games, including so-called “blind mode,” which makes it very attractive, he added.
