Cuba-Nicaragua to Play Exhibition Baseball Games

HAVANA TIMES, April 26 — The Cuban national baseball team will hold a series of friendly matches with Nicaragua in June as part of preparation for the Central American nation’s team for the qualifying tournament for the third World Baseball Classic, reported the Cuban JIT website.

The clash will consist of five games from June 14 to 26, and will be played in Nicaraguan stadiums, said the Cuban Federation of Baseball president Higinio Velez.

Cuba will host other games before the Classic (scheduled for March 2013), among which will be a contest with the US team in Havana from July 5 to 9, and Cuba’s participation in baseball week in Haarlem, the Netherlands, that same month.
