Cuba Undefeated in the World Volleyball League

HAVANA TIMES — The Cuban team beat the defending champion Russia on Sunday three sets to one at the conclusion of the second day of matches of the 2012 World Volleyball League, which is took place in Santo Domingo, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

Cuban team captain Wilfredo Leon, just 19, was the outstanding player. He scored 17 points in an attack in which he was unstoppable. One of these was in a block and seven were in serving, which confirmed him as one of the most powerful scorers in the competition.

With scores of 26-24, 21-25, 25-22 and 25-17, this is the second consecutive time that the islanders have defeated the Russian squad under Vladimir Alekno, which places them on top of Group A with 14 points and unbeaten.
