Cuban Wins Bronze in World Cycling

HAVANA TIMES — The Cuban cyclist Lisandra Guerra won a bronze medal in the keirin at the World Cup Track Cycling competition that ended on Sunday in Minsk, Belarus, reported Jit Online.

Guerra followed British athlete Rebecca James (gold) and China’s Jinjie Gong (silver) to win the medal in an event that has always eluded her in these championships. This was the third medal for Latin America in this event.

Previously she won medals in the 500 meter time trial: a bronze medal in Bordeaux in 2006, a silver in Palma de Mallorca in 2007, and a gold in Britain in 2008.

The other Cuban, Yudelmis Dominguez, received no medal and was ranked seventh in the race for points and eighth in the individual competition.
