Cuba Opposes UN Syria Condemnation
HAVANA TIMES, Nov 23 — Cuba is one of 13 countries that voted on Tuesday against a UN General Assembly resolution condemning Syria for human rights violations.
The Cuban representative maintained that the document had been drawn up by the United States and its allies and “once again proves the lack of action by the UN Human Rights Council to put in practice everything implied by defending human rights,” reported the official Cuban press.
The resolution received 122 votes in favor, 13 opposed and 41 abstentions.
Syrian ambassador to the UN, Bashar Jaafari, said the resolution incites “a civil war” and comprises part of the US policy against Syria.
Russia and China criticized what they considered a biased approach to the internal unrest in Syria and could block any UN Security Council action with their veto power if they maintain their position.
who are the 13 countries, i cannot find full list of them, can you help plz?
As of yesterday China and Russia appear to be changing their minds.
