HAVANA TIMES — Tropical Storm Debby is slowing moving north, headed for a landing towards the weekend probably somewhere on the Florida Panhandle, noted the National Hurricane Center on Monday.

It had earlier been forecast to move west along the Louisiana coastline but decided to keep to a pretty straight north path.

High winds and a high tide are already showing their presence on the Panhandle. A tropical storm warning is in effect for parts of Florida.

Debby currently packs 50 mph winds and has a central pressure of 993 millibars. It is virtually stationary on Monday morning.

The tropical storm poses no direct threat to Cuba, now far to the southeast of the eye of the storm.
