Cuba and Spain Win Alicia Alonso Choreography Awards
HAVANA TIMES — Works by Cuban dancer and choreographer Irene Rodriguez and by Spanish-Israeli artist Sharon Fridman were winners on Sunday at the Eighth Alicia Alonso Ibero-American Choreography Competition.
The jury voted unanimously to award the prize to both works in this edition in which 42 choreographic compositions competed from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Spain, Mexico and Venezuela.
“Special Mentions” were also granted to the works “Lua,” by Spain’s Mercedes Suarez, and for “Anoxia,” by Cuban choreographer Osnel Delgado.
The awards ceremony will take place during the 23rd International Ballet Festival of Havana, to be held from October 28 to November 7 of this year.
