Russia to Create Air ‘Transport Hub’ in Cuba
HAVANA TIMES — The Russian government is seeking to create a new Russian-Cuban airline based at Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport, said the Russian Deputy Transportation Minister Sergey Aristov in a report by Russia Today.
The deputy minister unveiled the plans after the meeting of the working group of the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission on trade, economic and scientific-technical cooperation, in which the two nations signed a cooperation program through 2020.
According to the chairman of the committee and the Russian Minister of Industry, Denis Manturov, the formation of the transportation hub in Havana will not only facilitate the movement of passengers and goods but will also provide access to other destinations, especially those in Latin America.
