Cuban Military Pray for Chavez
HAVANA TIMES — In an unusual act, Cuban military personnel went to the Jesus de Miramar Church in Havana this past Friday to pray alongside members of the Bolivarian Armed Forces of Venezuela for the speedy recovery of President Hugo Chavez, reported AFP.
“This is about the health of Chavez, who for us is a symbol. He means hope for many people around the world, and what’s most important right now is to give him confidence at this difficult moment,” said a lieutenant colonel of the Cuban army speaking to the press.
According to the news article, also participating in the religious ceremony organized by the Embassy of Venezuela was Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra and an island military delegation, something that is rarely seen in churches here.
