German Parliamentarians Visiting Cuba
HAVANA TIMES — A group of lawmakers from the Budget Committee of the German Federal Parliament is currently visiting Cuba, where they spoke with local authorities, reported the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
The members of the German delegation were greeted in Havana by Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra in a meeting in which they discussed bilateral ties between the two nations.
The visiting legislators and the hosts also discussed relations between Cuba and the European Union, according to the news note posted on the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s website.
The links between the EU and Cuba are currently governed by the “Common Position” adopted in 1996. Germany — along with Sweden, the Czech Republic and Poland — has been reluctant to ease relations with the government of the island.
