My Grandmother

I wake up slowly until I manage to shake off the confusion & enter the present, like all the other times I’ve dreamt about her over the years.

They are just a short distance away from the tourist destination of Varadero, although visitors have no reason to learn about these realities.

Since I was a child, two things caught my attention about this area, one is its beautiful parks, and the other is its steep hills. (29 pictures)

Finally, the noose around Cuban baseball’s neck has forced sports authorities on the island to eliminate a painful requirement…

I do so while still enjoying the ability to express my desire to exercise my right to end my life in a free and dignified manner.

I don’t like an ugly picture painted of my country, but it’s the truth. Tourists’ photos are beautiful, but our day-to-day isn’t very idyllic.

The private sector & USD-equivalent prices are the future here, there’s no other choice, & it’s inevitable that many will suffer along the way

God help me! The only option left to the Cuban president appears to be a “pact with the devil.”
