The Compañia Danza Contemporanea de Cuba dedicated its debuting work “Sombrisa,” choreographed by Israeli artist Itzik Galili, to the late boxer Teofilo Stevenson. The work will be presented at the Gran Theatro de La Habana.

The 32nd Caribbean “Fire Festival” celebrations begin on Tuesday in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba with the participation of artists, intellectuals and groups carrying on the traditional folk cultures of more than 30 nations.

The archbishop of Mexico, Cardinal Norberto Rivera, on Sunday will open a traveling exhibition of contemporary art related to Cuba’s Virgin de la Caridad this coming Sunday at the Metropolitan Cathedral in that country’s capital city.

The recital “Up into the Silence,” with music from the British artist Sue Herrod, the voice of Cuban singer Diana Fuentes and verses by the US poet E. E. Cummings (1894-1962), took place on Thursday at Havana’s Karl Marx theater.

An effort to restore and digitalize Cuban news archives was agreed to in Havana between the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC) and France’s National Audiovisual Institute.

The personal exhibition “La vida parece un sueño” (Life is Like a Dream), by artist Maykel Herrera, opened today at the EAGL Gallery in Berlin before a large audience.
