Jazz Plaza 2011 in Full Swing

The International Jazz Plaza Festival began as a free event in the 80’s. The only thing anyone needed to get in to the Plaza Casa de la Cultura (cultural center) was good energy and desire to listen to jazz. Cuba’s 4-Day Jazz Plaza Opens Tonight

The 27th Jazz Plaza festival opens Thursday night in the capital with a host of Cuban and visiting performers. The four days of concerts (Dec. 15-18) takes place in ten different venues (including one in Varadero) and also includes a program of workshops and conferences. The opening night gala at Havana’s Mella Theater includes performances by the Cuban Symphonic Orchestra, Digna Guerra and the Entrevoces vocal group, Arthur O’Farrill (USA) and Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
