Business delegations from Cuba and Guatemala began today a meeting in the Central American country to explore business opportunities, reported IPS. In 2008 bilateral trade favored the Guatemalan business community, which exported 31 million dollars’ worth of products to Cuba, while the island only exported eight million.

The European Commission delivered 11.7 million euros to strengthen local food production capacities, improve agricultural management and the availability of food products in 27 Cuban municipalities, reported IPS. The financing will be channeled through the United Nations Development Program’s Local Human Development Program (LHDP/Cuba).
