Can we catch a baseball game in Holguin from April 16-23?

Question:  Hola, I am inquiring on information about baseball in Cuba. We are traveling to Holguin, Cuba in April 2012, (April 16 to the 23) and was wondering if there would be any baseball games that we could take in, as we are a huge baseball family from Canada and would love to take in a game when we are there. If you could send me back some information it would greatly be appreciated.  Muchas gracias! Carrie Johnson

Answer: Carrie, you will be arriving during the last two 3-game series of the 2011-2012 regular Cuban baseball league season.

For the series to be held April 16, 17 &18 the closest stadium would be in Bayamo where Granma plays Sancti Spiritus.  The Holguin team will be playing further west in Santa Clara vs. Villa Clara.

For the series to be held April 20, 21 & 22 you are in luck as Holguin will be playing at home against Metropolitanos.

Of course between now and those dates there could be a change so feel free to check back around April 10th just to be sure.

    hi im travelling to guardalavaca in 10 days, ive heard about storm beryl and looked at the weather forecast, will it be raining all the time we are there,or is it just what they think it will be like

    Matanzas (30 km. from Varadero) plays at home on March 30, 31 and April 1 against Ciego de Avila. Both teams are top contenders in their divisions. I suggest you ask at your hotel upon arrival. It shouldn’t be hard to catch a game!

    Heading to Cuba March the 27th till April 3rd, staying at a resort in Varadero but spending some time in Alamar at a friends as well. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any group trips to baseball games from Varadero.
