HAVANA TIMES — Cuban-born Hollywood actor Andy Garcia has obtained the financing to shoot his film about the writer Ernest Hemingway, who will be portrayed by the British actor Anthony Hopkins, reports the EFE news agency.

“Hemingway & Fuentes” will be directed by Garcia, who will play the role of Gregorio Fuentes, a close friend and captain of the boat owned by the American novelist, while Annette Bening will play the author’s third wife.

Garcia also wrote the script along with Hillary Hemingway, the granddaughter of the author of The Old Man and the Sea.

The film will be produced by Garcia’s CineSon production company and Edward Walson’s Sunrider Productions.

  • Anthony Hopkins is an excellent choice. I wonder if Cuba will ban this film as they banned Lost City. If every fiilm that cast a negative image about American politicians, American history, or the US in general was banned from being seen in the US there would be no movies to see. Even the most brain-washed Cuban apologist has yet to explain the whole film, book and art banning thing that Cuba continues to engage in. Any takers care to justify it?
