Book Fair Dedicated to Caribbean

The annual book fair draws Cubans and foreigners alike.

HAVANA TIMES, Dec 23 — The 2012 Cuba Book Fair, the island’s most well attended yearly event, will be dedicated to the culture of the peoples of the Caribbean as well as to Cuban intellectuals Ambrosio Fornet and Zoila Lapique, reported Prensa Latina.

The event will take place in Havana from February 9 to 19. After the kick off in the capital city, the book fair will then move across the entire country to conclude on March 4 in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba.

Some 50 writers from different countries have already confirmed their participation, including laureates of the Cervantes Prize, the most prestigious award for Hispanic literature.

In addition to the hundreds of thousands of Cuban citizens expected to attend this year’s fair, almost 200 special guests from 34 countries will be present, announced the organizers of the event.
