Carter, Castro Discuss Cuba & the World

HAVANA TIMES, March 30 — Visiting former US President James Carter and Cuban leader Raul Castro met on Tuesday in Havana. Carter is on a three-day visit to Cuba that concludes on Wednesday.

Without giving any details the Cuban press reports that Carter and Castro “discussed international affairs, the situation in Cuba and the United States and relations between the two countries.”

Raul Castro reiterated Cuba’s “willingness to dialogue with the US government any topic, but also said that such talks must take place without pre conditions and with absolute respect for our independence and sovereignty.”

On Wednesday morning, Carter is meeting with a group of dissidents including famed blogger Yoani Sanchez.
