Chavez Leaves Cuba after 4th Chemo Session
HAVANA TIMES, Sept. 23 — Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez left for Caracas on Thursday evening after competing his fourth round of Chemotherapy treatment to prevent a return of a cancer.
He had said before arriving to Cuba that in a month he will know if further treatment is necessary.
Before leaving Havana, Chavez met for five hours with Cuban President Raul Castro, noted the local press without giving any details as to what they discussed. Castro then accompanied Chavez to the Jose Marti International Airport.
Chavez was operated on in June in Cuba for a cancerous tumor in what he referred to as his “pelvic area.”
He maintains that the cancer and subsequent treatment will not affect his bid for reelection in the October 2012 elections in Venezuela.
