Chavez Sends Messages from Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, June 24 — After nearly two weeks of silence recovering Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez sent public messages from Cuba via Twitter on Friday to congratulate his country’s army on their anniversary and let the population know he is with them.

Chavez is recovering from a pelvic abscess surgery he underwent on June 10 in Havana, the last leg of a three nation tour that included Brazil and Ecuador.

The president’s brother Adan told Telesur TV on Wednesday that he expects Chavez to be back in Caracas in time for the July 4 Venezuelan independence (from Spain) celebration and a summit of Latin American leaders on Margarita Island on July 5.
