China Seeks Greater Investment in Cuba
HAVANA TIMES – China on Monday called for greater trade and investment between the two countries during a meeting of the Bilateral Business Committee, held in the context of the International Fair of Havana, FIHAV 2014.
“Bilateral trade amounted to 1.8 billion dollars , a low figure compared with the volume of trade of China with the region,” said the vice president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Wang Jinzhen.
The senior official believes that Chinese investment in Cuba is very small compared within the geographical area, even though does put China as the second global partner of Cuba after Venezuela, and the leading Chinese partner in the Caribbean.
China is the main supplier of household appliances and equipment to Cuba and is currently the largest importer of Cuban sugar, reported the local Cuban media.
