Conference Begins Today on Education and Sexual Orientation in Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, Jan 23 — The Sixth Cuban Congress on Education, Sexual Orientation and Therapy kicks off its today and will run through Thursday at the Havana Conference Center, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

The opening session will open with a keynote address on sex education in social transformation processes, which will be delivered by Mariela Castro Espin, the daughter of Cuban President Raul Castro.

Topics such as male prostitutes, people who are transgender, families, gender education, teenage pregnancy and HIV will be treated over the next four days, during which time seminars, workshops, and symposia of various types will be hosted.

Once the conference concludes, a course on preventing and addressing violence against women will be taught by Nadine Gasman, who is a consultant with the organization UN Women.
