HAVANA TIMES — The schedule for the first half of the 2012-2013 Cuban baseball season is now available at the Baseballdecuba.com website.

Play begins on November 25 with a game featuring last season’s league champions, Ciego de Avila, hosting the runners-up, Industriales.

A full schedule of play then takes place on the following day.

Modifications have been made in this coming season, consisting of 87 games divided into two stages.

In the first phase the 16 teams will play their rivals three times for a total of 45 games by February 3rd.

The league will then take a long break as the Cuban national team readies for the 3rd World Baseball Classic in March.

The second half of the Cuban league will resume a week after Cuba finishes its play in the Classic.

As last season, most of the games will be played at 1:00 p.m., with limited night games at 8:15 p.m.

The Cuban national team is currently playing exhibition games in Taiwan to be followed by Japan, as an early prep for the Classic. Upon their return later in the month they will join the training of their individual teams as the Cuban league approaches.
