Cuba Construction Ministry Announces Investments 2012

HAVANA TIMES, Jan 13 — The Ministry of Construction of Cuba announced today plans for important infrastructure improvements which will include the construction of new factories for the production of building materials.

The program includes investments to increase production of tiles, aggregates, cement blocks and prefabricated components, beginning with the construction of a cement factory in Santiago de Cuba and a marine terminal in the port of that eastern city.

In addition, in Artemis Province in western Cuba, a lime production plant will be installed for the production of mortars and a mobile factory will go into operation producing blocks. This latter method, new in Cuba, is being replicated on the Isla de la Juventud and in Sancti Spiritus Provinces.

In addition, activities will begin on the repair and acquisition of various types of equipment and boats. The costs of these were not disclosed, reported Granma newspaper.
