Cuba Now 4th in Pan American Games

HAVANA TIMES, Oct. 22 — Cuba is in a tight battle to repeat as the second place medal earner in the 2011 Guadalajara Pan American Games.  While the USA will be the walk away title holder, Brazil, host Mexico, Canada and Cuba are expected to battle for second through the closing on Sunday Oct. 30.

At the end of the day on Friday the Cuban athletes had managed 12 gold medals, led by the Greco-Roman Wrestling team which has provided six.  Cuba is now in fourth place behind Brazil (17 gold), Canada (14), while host Mexico is close in fifth with 11 gold medals.  The USA has a wide lead as expected with 41.
