Cuba Reports Plane Crash, 68 Aboard

HAVANA TIMES, Nov. 4 — A passenger plane crashed in central Cuba with 68 persons aboard late Thursday afternoon reported the island’s TV and online media. The plane was flying on the route from Santiago de Cuba to Havana and there was no word of possible survivors.

The aircraft was carrying 61 passengers and 7 crew members including 40 Cubans and 28 foreigners.

Cuba’s Civil Aeronautics Institute said the crash took place at 5:42 p.m. in the province of Sancti Spiritus.  They noted that an investigation is underway and that hospitals in the city of Sancti Spiritus were ready to provide whatever services are required.

  • i am here and arrived 24 hrs previously..Now its str8ght to work cat hosp ..This is indeed a tragedy..i want to know how and why this happened..

  • I am said that this accident happened and that it appears there were no survivors.I have flown from Santiago de Cuba to Havana and have friends in Santiago who I hope have not lost loved ones.
