Cuba Supports Denuclearization of Korean Peninsula

HAVANA TIMES — Cuba called on Wednesday for complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, during the third day of the Board of Governors meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency, being held in Vienna.

According to the Prensa Latina news agency, Cuba’s governor to the Board, Rodolfo Benitez, expressed concerns about the increased tension in the Asian region, warning that these could derail efforts to achieve a lasting peace.

Likewise, the Cuban representative considered that nuclear disarmament should be a matter of highest priority to the international community. “Only the total elimination and testing of these weapons will help to ensure peace and security,” he said.
