Independent Cuban Journalist Missing

HAVANA TIMES — The Cuban independent information center “Hablemos Press” reported on Tuesday that its correspondent, Calixto Ramon Martinez Arias, remains unaccounted for after being arrested on Sunday, reported Cubaencuentro.

Martinez Arias was arrested at midnight on Sunday. “Later it was learned that he was transferred to the police station in the suburb of Santiago de las Vegas in the Rancho Boyeros municipality of Havana,” noted Hablemos Press.

The correspondent was “researching several tons of medicines and medical equipment that were ruined while at the Jose Marti International Airport,” reported the news source.

According to information provided by an airport worker, “the supply had been sent by the World Health Organization (WHO).”
