The game — witnessed by 39,381 fans— was actually a close 2-2 tie through the first three innings but Industriales scored two in the fourth and four in the fifth to bust the game open.
Stayler Hernandez had two homers and four RBIs and Alexander Malleta hit a four-bagger and drove in four runs as well to lead Industriales. The other home runs came from Yoandri Urgelles and Rudy Reyes.
Villa Clara’s Luis Borroto went 3.1 innings in taking the loss allowing five hits and the first four Industriales runs. Then came a string of relievers who couldn’t put down Industriales. Misael Silverio was the hardest hit giving up four more runs on four hits in only 1.1 innings.
For Industriales starter Ian Rendon was gone after three innings and played no role in the decision. The winning pitcher was reliever Armando Rivero who tossed 4.0 innings allowing six hits and three runs.
Villa Clara now leads the series 2-1 and games four and five will take place at the same Latinoamericano Stadium in the capital on Saturday and Sunday.
