Spanish Hotel Chain Reducing Its Presence in Cuba

HAVANA TIMES — The Spanish hotel chain Barcelo Hotels and Resorts has reduced its presence in Cuba by ceasing its administration over two five-star hotels, reported the Travelupdate website on Tuesday.

The company’s portfolio in Cuba has now been reduced to two four-star hotels at Varadero Beach: the Barcelo Solymar Beach Resort, with 525 rooms; and Barcelo Arenas Blancas, with 358 living quarters.

Nonetheless, according to the Travelupdate article, the management of the Spanish company has reaffirmed its commitment and interest in Cuba. “Our idea is to continue very actively in Cuba and, in fact, we are analyzing projects for new hotels to incorporate,” they affirmed.

The Barcelo Group has over 160 hotels in 17 countries and travel agencies in 22 countries.
