UN Praises Cuba’s Disaster Mitigation

HAVANA TIMES, Oct. 26 — Cuba’s work in natural disaster mitigation and its experiences in the conservation of human lives and material goods is a regional referent, María de Jesús Izquierdo, specialist in disaster reduction for Latin America and the Caribbean of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), said in statements during the Workshop of the Project for the Strengthening of Local Capacity in the Management for Risk Reduction, held in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba, reportó IPS.
