HAVANA TIMES, Nov. 25 – “Although Cuban women are not exempt from violence, an effort can be appreciated to counteract the situation,” affirmed Susan McDade, UN resident coordinator in Cuba.

The official recognized the work of the nongovernmental Federation of Cuban Women (FMC).

According to a study by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), 40 per cent of the women in Iberian America are victims of gender violence, reported IPS.

Wednesday is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
