USA Praises Ortega for Closing Borders to Cuban Emigrants

By Fernando Ravsberg

US State DepartmentHAVANA TIMES — The US State Department came out on Tuesday in support on of the decision by the Nicaraguan government of Daniel Ortega to close its border to thousands of Cuban migrants.

According to the Nuevo Herald of Miami, the State Department said: “All of the countries have the responsibility to put in effect the requirements for necessary documentation and the control mechanisms on their borders. This prevents the transit of travelers without documents and for the undocumented to be sent back to their point of origin, in accordance with legislation and international practices.”

Looked at another way: migrants show courage and initiative in trying to reach a country where, they believe, their own work will make them better off.

But these are precisely the people Cuba needs to grow its economy. So the faster Cuba changes into a country where such people feel they can prosper, the quicker these problems will disappear.

You are correct, it is a ridiculous & hypocritical statement. Obama would love to repeal the CAA, but congress isn’t ready yet. So he will make the law look as ridiculous as possible. It’s no coincidence, this is exactly what Raul wants.

““All of the countries have the responsibility to put in effect the requirements for necessary documentation and the control mechanisms on their borders.” …well, all borders except those of the US, which the Obama Administration does not think are worth defending.

Face it, these Cuban migrants are inconvenient to the preferred narrative that Obama’s new policy on normalizing relations with Cuba has helped improve condition on the island. Therefore, these ingrates must be made to disappear.

Again, we are witnessing the forked tongued policy of the United States of America. They are the ones who created the wet foot, dry foot policy for the Cubans to migrate in droves in an effort to cripple the Cuban Revolution, They have now caught themselves and have re- established relations with Cuba. What these Cubans are fearful about is that the wet foot, dry foot policy which favoured them only, will be abolished. Some of them do not really want to live in America; they just want to know that they have the status and can move between the two countries as they please. America created the coditions for the massive exodous which they cannot handle and are now praising Nicaragua for protecting its sovereignty by closing its borders to that large influx of migrants on their way to America, America turns around now, thanking and praising up Daniel Ortega the Communist for rescuing them from an Immigration squall: WHAT AN AMRICA?

Another ridiculous statement. They praise Nicaragua for stopping the migrants from crossing, but if they reached the US border they would be allowed straight even if they had originally been turned down by the US through the normal immigration procedures. What kind of mushrooms are these people on?
