Cuban Grand Master to Participate in Russian Chess League

HAVANA TIMES, March 19 — Chess Grand Master Leinier Dominguez will debut from April 8 to 16 in the upcoming Russian League competition of chess clubs in the city of Kransnodar, reports the Cuban Information Agency.

Dominguez, who ranks 20th in the world and has racked up 2,730 ELO points, will participate along with several members of the chess elite, including locals such as Peter Svidler (2,744) and Nikita Vitiugov (2,709), as well as Armenian player Sergei Movsesian (2,702).

This will be the 2012 international debut of the Cuban chess player, who will also head the Cuban team at the Istanbul Championship, to be played between August and September, and who will later compete in the club championships in Spain.
